Story
Dreams Come True is a national charity with a mission to enrich the lives of children with a disability, serious illness or life-limiting condition, and who live in the most socially deprived areas of this country, by making their dreams come true. I’m on a mission to raise £10,000 for them, and hoping you can help me do it.
In today’s world an average of 29% of children are experiencing poverty, rising in some regions to a staggering 52%. With the cost-of-living crisis throwing more and more children and families into poverty than ever before, Dreams Come True has never been needed more. It is the only UK wish granting charity that supports children living in the highest areas of deprivation.
Whether it’s a specially adapted trike for a child with cerebral palsy or a tablet to help an autistic teenager develop their communication skills, each dream brings moments of magic and has a lasting impact for years to come.
Some of you may know that my wife Jayne, recently joined Dreams Come True as a trustee. As an avid ‘indoor only’ cycling fan, Jayne has asked me to represent her by joining the ‘Italian Job’ bike ride for Dreams Come True.
The challenge: Four days of cycling, covering 390 miles and 25,830 feet of elevation! A team of 20-25 riders will be travelling from Piacenza (just south of Milan) to Rome. Each rider is covering all of their own travel and accommodation costs, to ensure that every penny raised goes directly to Dreams Come True, bringing with it many smiles to some of the most deserving children in the UK.
Any help you can give is simply amazing.
Thank-you
Jayne & David
