David does the Yorkshire Marathon for Alzheimer's Society

David Swallow is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Altra Yorkshire Marathon 2025 · 19 October 2025 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

In October I’ll be taking on the Yorkshire Marathon – the furthest I’ve ever run – to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Completing this challenge is by no means a foregone conclusion, but I’m determined to give it everything I’ve got!

Dementia has touched my family deeply: my dad is currently living with the condition, and my gran was also affected by it. Sadly, so many other families know the same story. The Alzheimer’s Society does incredible work, providing vital care and support for people affected today while also funding research to one day find a cure.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a difference. If you can support me on this journey, I’d be hugely grateful.
