Different Strokes Tottenham Hotspur Charity Abseil

Ruth Davis is raising money for Different Strokes (Trustees) Limited

Different Strokes Tottenham Hotspur Charity Abseil · 16 May 2026

An empowering and challenging all ability abseil off the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. A day when fears are overcome, and feelings of pride and achievement are high.

Story

In July 2018 life as we knew it changed beyond recognition. When Karl had his strokes (aged 39) we were blindsided. Before his strokes, Karl was a Met Police officer (a traffic rat) and spent his life driving cars and motorbikes fast. Unfortunately he is now unable to drive for more than about 10 minutes, and so he had to medically retire from a career he loved. Subsequently he was diagnosed with severe post stroke fatigue (similar to ME) and can no longer work for more than a few hours a week. 8 years on, and life can be difficult for him, and us as a family. Different Strokes have supported our family throughout the last 8 years, and as a small charity fundraising is key.

For this challenge, I have enlisted the support of Fleur and Ollie, as well as Jason and Izzy, and we will be throwing ourselves off the top of Tottenham's stadium - for Karlos, and for Different Strokes.

Please support us in our challenge to abseil from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and to raise as much money as we can for this cause close to our hearts - Thank you!

About the Charity:

Every year approximately 100,000 people will have a stroke in the UK and a quarter of these will happen to people of working age or younger and it is the single biggest cause of disability. Different Strokes is the only charity dedicated to younger stroke survivors to provide active peer support through information, advice and rehabilitation services.
