Lucian is supporting Unique's mission to raise £34,000 for Rare Chromo Day 2026. Unique provided helpful support and information when Lucian was diagnosed with a rare chromosome syndrome, 16p11.2 Microdeletion, 5 years ago. Their stories for children helped him to understand his diagnosis when he learnt about it last year and he is eager to help others learn about Rare Chromo syndromes, and 16p11.2 Microdeletion, and to raise some money for Rare Chromo Day.

He has decided to ride his bike, run or walk at least a mile each day for 23 days during June as there are 23 pairs of chromosomes by Rare Chromo Day on 25th June. His steps accumulation from this will go towards the Unique 3 Billion Steps Challenge. Any funds raised will help their work.

As a small charity helping thousands of families with rare chromosome syndromes that are not well known, they received limited funds and therefore every little bit helps children and families like Lucian to understand their rare conditions and connect with others. They provide essential information, research and advice that is typically not available by the NHS or other sources. Unique is an open, supportive community for people who are looking to learn, share lived experiences and connect with others whose life has been touched by rare chromosome syndromes and gene differences. They are here to support and celebrate people living truly unique lives.
