Story

Hello

This month I will be attempting to cover at least 25 miles to raise money for The Magic of Milly.

This is a very dear charity to me in memory of a beautiful little girl, Milly, whose life was cut short at the age of 2. I have known Milly’s mum, Emma, and family for nearly 40 years.

All proceeds go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where Milly and her family spent most of her 2 years. The work they do there is phenomenal but they can not keep it up without charities like The Magic of Milly.

In 2022 I had the honour of taking part in Strictly for Milly, doing what I love, dancing! However, running is not my thing and since then I have incurred an injury on both my achilles so, I thought I would attempt to swim it!! In my naive state I did not realise this would mean at least 80 lengths of our local 20m pool a day, every day (almost) in May!! I may turn into a fish!!!! So, I shall be doing a combination of swimming, walking, dancing down the street….. whatever it takes to cover the 25 miles. Possibly with crutches!!

So, I am asking if you could possibly donate/sponsor me and help me smash my target of £300 please.

Millie’s Story

Milly was born in March 2013, at 37 weeks gestation weighing 4lb 13oz. Prior to her birth, complications were detected, but she did not receive a diagnosis until she was twelve weeks old. Milly had a very rare congenital condition.

“Milly, you have changed the way I practice as a

doctor forever”

Sadly, following heart surgery, Milly suffered numerous post-operative complications and died the night before her second birthday. This was a very sad occasion as Milly was a vivacious, happy little girl, but this mountain was just too high for her to climb.

“Her smile was infectious and her heart was warming”

What do they do…

Magic of Milly is supported by the family, friends, and many generous people who were touched by Milly during her short but very brave life, to raise awareness and help support the dedicated teams of doctors, nurses and support staff who provide world class care to children like Milly.

Raising an amazing £220,000 so far!!
