Story

Thanks for visiting my page, for the very first time I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation by taking part firstly in the 100 km London to Brighton bike ride in June, later in October I’ll be off to Vietnam/Cambodia to cycle 450km along the Mekong Delta and finally I’m back on 2 legs to trek 100km in the Sahara desert next April and ill be so grateful for your support with all these challenges.

The last few years have been personally tough, mentally and physically after I had a nasty work place accident in April 2023, last Christmas I finally found out after finally having an MRI, that I had in fact damaged the base of my spine in that accident and unfortunately due to the nature of the damage and my age it was never going to fully recover, so it was up to me to do all I could do to make the most of what I could do.

2025 saw me do just that, I finally started to see just how lucky I had been with challenges completed in Iceland, Patagonia, the Amazon rainforest plus also summiting Kilimanjaro and getting to Everest Base Camp, so I ditched the feeling sorry for what I couldn’t do, and started working towards my next challenge.

I’m now a regular of my local PureGym and receiving PT sessions with the lovely Lara the gym Manager, since the Summer I’ve lost 4 stone in weight, mostly put on due to my inactivity since my accident, as the weight came down my confidence grew and my fitness improved. I finally realised that my cycle challenge booked in early 2023 was achievable and the final push was when my 55 year old workplace Manager suffered a fatal heart attack a total shock to all of us and so sad, I confirmed my challenge place the next day to fundraise for The BHF and also signed up for the London to Brighton bike ride as a major training session.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
