Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This year, I have set myself a challenge that feels both physically impossible and deeply personal. I am running the Great North Run to raise money for the Stroke Association.
The last couple of years have been incredibly difficult. My mum suffered a stroke and I became her carer, looking after her through the daily challenges that stroke recovery brings. Sadly, she passed away at the end of 2024. 2025 was a year of navigating that grief and trying to find the light again.
Being a carer for someone you love is one of the hardest things anyone can do. It is a 24/7 role that is physically and emotionally exhausting. I want to raise this money specifically to help the Stroke Association support those families and carers who are in the thick of it right now, because I know exactly how hard that daily reality is.
Last year, your incredible generosity helped me raise over £400 for this charity. This year, I need to raise a minimum of £350 to take part in the Great North Run, but I would love to see if we can smash that target once again.
Now, for those who know me, you know this is a massive challenge. I am not a runner. I don’t run for the bus or the train. Usually, the only thing I run is a hot bath. But for this cause, and in memory of my mum, I am going to find my stride and get across that finish line.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference to stroke survivors and the people who care for them. Thank you so much for your support and for being part of this journey with me.
