Title: Running the London Marathon in Memory of my son Luke Clamp.
Story:
In August last year, the 23rd to be exact, our world changed forever. Our Son, who was also a great dad, a brother, an uncle and friend – was taken from us far too soon, after slipping into a diabetic coma. It was sudden, it was devastating, and it left a hole in our family that can never be filled.
He leaves behind three amazing children who adored him. They’ve lost their dad, and no words can truly capture the pain of knowing they will grow up without his laughter, guidance, and love. Our whole family has been left trying to make sense of something that feels so unfair.
Luke was more than family – he was the one who’d check in when you least expected it, who’d make you laugh until your sides hurt, who’d always be there when you needed him. The thought that diabetes, something so many people live with every day, could take him so suddenly has been hard to comprehend.
I’ve decided to run the London Marathon in his memory. Every mile will be for him, for his children, and for everyone affected by this cruel disease. I want to raise awareness about the dangers of diabetes and raise funds to help support research, education, and those living with it right now.
Running 26.2 miles won’t bring him back, but it’s my way of turning grief into action. It’s my way of making sure his name is remembered not just for how he died, but for how he lived – with kindness, humour, and love.
If you can, please donate. Whether it’s the cost of a coffee or something more, every single contribution will help make a difference and keep my brother’s memory alive in the most meaningful way.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me carry his memory across the finish line.
Thank you for the sponsorship, it will change lives.
Dean
