Story
This September I’ll be participating in the Great North Run to raise funds for Newcastle Hospitals Charity - the official charity of The Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI.
In January 2026, my six-year-old son George became very poorly with appendicitis and he received specialist treatment and care from an incredible team at the RVI.
During this distressing and overwhelming time for our family, the staff not only cared for George but supported us as well - offering comfort and kindness when we needed it most.
Watching your child suffer is something no parent can ever be prepared for, but the skill and compassion we encountered made a frightening situation a little more manageable - especially all of the wonderful nursing staff on Ward 9.
I want to give something back to the place and people who have helped us so much. This run is my way of saying thank you.
Every donation, no matter how small, will assist in supporting the amazing work they do for children and families.
Thank you for choosing to support Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
As the official Charity of Newcastle Hospitals, every penny raised is spent locally to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the North East and beyond. Home of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Great North Children's Hospital, we help to make a positive difference for the patients, staff and communities of Newcastle Hospitals.
