Story
My dad was an alcoholic and spent years homeless, moving between halfway houses and friends’ sofas.
He passed away in 2009, just a month before his 55th birthday.
He was a huge Swans fan and followed them home and away in the 70s and 80s. He took me and my brother to the Vetch for the first time back in ’88.
I'm raising money to highlight the issue of homelessness by sleeping out at the Swansea.com Stadium in November.
Homelessness and rough sleeping are still problems for people in Swansea. The causes are complicated, and the solutions are equally complex. This event will highlight the issues and put a focus on two charities working together to help. It will raise much needed funds and give wonderful volunteer fundraisers a tiny taste of sleeping out in the cold of Autumn. We know this doesn’t compare with the uncertainty and hardship of actual homelessness, but it does help focus the mind, and offers a chance to make a difference by raising funds.
As Thom from Matthews House said, "working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone". So let's work on this together and help 'bring hope to people in need'.
If you’re able to sponsor me, anything at all would mean the world. Thank you.
