Story
I'm taking part in the Swans BIG Sleep Out 2026!
Thank you so much for the incredible generosity you showed during last year’s Swans Big Sleepout.
Your support genuinely made a difference, and I’m taking part again this November because this cause is deeply personal to me.
My dad spent years battling alcoholism and homelessness, moving between halfway houses and friends’ sofas. Through all of it, he was a huge Swans fan, following them home and away in the 70s and 80s, and taking me and my brother to the Vetch for the first time in 1987. He passed away in 2009, just shy of his 56th birthday, and I often think about how different things might have been if he’d had the right support.
Homelessness is still a real issue in Swansea. The causes are complex, and the solutions are too, but events like this help shine a light on the problem and raise vital funds for two charities working together to support people in need. As Thom from Matthews House said, “working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone.”
Sleeping out for one night doesn’t compare to the reality of homelessness, but it does help focus the mind and it gives us a chance to make a difference.
If you’re able to sponsor me, anything at all would mean the world. Thank you.
Sadly homelessness, poverty and loneliness continue to affect people across Swansea.
For one night, I'll be swapping my bed for the stadium concrete at the Swansea.com Stadium. While I know this is no comparison to the reality faced by people experiencing homelessness, it's an opportunity to reflect, show people they are not alone and play a small part in making a difference.
Funds raised will support the work of two fantastic local organisations: Matthew's House provides practical support, food, community and hope for people facing homelessness, poverty and isolation. Swansea City AFC Foundation creates opportunities for children, young people and families through programmes that improve health and wellbeing, and help ensure nobody misses out on the things many of us take for granted.
Every donation, big or small, will help provide support, opportunity and hope for people who need it most.
Thank you for your support.
