My name is Dean and starting May 6th I am running 50 Half Marathons in 50 Day to raise funds and awareness for Epilepsy Action Australia.

My Why? - At 19 years old my wife Tarran was suddenly diagnosed with Epilepsy after suffering a Grand Mal Seizure. It was an extremely hard time coming to terms with what life may be like going forward living with this condition. Tarran was in the prime of her life had her license stripped away from her and now needed to find a medication strategy to keep the seizures under control. Thankfully after a lot of trial and error we found one that worked and Tarran has been seizure free for 4 years. Our son Remy also suffered from Febrile seizures brought on by spike in temperature as a toddler. I want to support those closest to me and do what I can to help other family’s that may be going through a similar situation.

Approximately 3% to 3.5% of Australians will experience epilepsy at some point in their lives. This not only impacks the individual but it has a flow affect to family and loved ones.

Epilepsy Action Australia delivers innovative services that increase understanding, raise awareness, develop skills and leverage research to enhance the lives of those living with Epilepsy.
