Story
Thanks for dropping by my JustGiving page!
In 2023, I proudly became a Trustee for STAMMA – a charity that does incredible work supporting people who stammer and challenging the stigma that still surrounds stammering today. Their work is deeply personal to me, not just as a Trustee, but as someone who knows first-hand the importance of being able to speak without fear, shame or judgement.
The “It’s How We Walk” events are my way of combining something I love – walking – with raising awareness and much-needed funds for a cause I believe in so strongly. Every step is about visibility, representation, and making sure that people who stammer know they are not alone.
This year, I’m pushing myself further than ever before.
While I’m no stranger to long-distance walks, this challenge is my longest walk by a considerable margin. It’s going to be tough – physically and mentally – and there’s a fair chance it will break me… but I’m determined to see it through.
The goal? To complete this huge walk in under 18 hours, if all goes to plan (and if the weather decides to be kind). There will be aches, blisters, and moments when I’ll wonder why I ever signed up, but knowing that every mile is helping STAMMA’s work will keep me moving forward.
Your support – whether through a donation or sharing this page – genuinely makes a difference. STAMMA’s work changes lives, and together we can make sure that more people who stammer get the support, community, and respect they deserve.
A note from Stamma...
We are committed to tackling public perceptions of what it means to stammer and remove the shame, stigma, intolerance and misunderstanding experienced by people who stammer. Our plan over the next few years is to push EVERY organisation to ensure they are accessible to people who stammer and normalise stammering. So that people expect it, plan for it, respond better.
To achieve this, we need to scale up our training, support and services. So whatever you can raise for STAMMA will be appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
