A Coast to Coast Walk for Disability Sheffield's Urgent Appeal

Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk · 30 April 2025
Join my boyfriend and I while we walk 310 kms (192 miles) from one side of North England to the other! We will be ascending roughly 9000m, which is about the same elevation as Mount Everest!!
We will be raising money for the very deserving charity, Disability Sheffield. As many of you know, I have been working as a P.A. to spinal cord injured clients for the past 5 years, and this charity is one that I have got to know personally through my regular client. They’ve recently hit hard times and have made an urgent appeal to raise £10,000 to keep their vital services running. We hope to raise part of their target for these worthy people who work so hard to really help advocate for those who struggle most in our societies.
So, let me tell you, at 44 this is no easy task! Having never done so many long hiking days consecutively with a heavy pack weight (we will mostly be wild camping), throw in an annoying bone spur and having recently learned about the joys of sciatica, this challenge is one that I wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew 😆. Perhaps if everyone can dig deep, I will be encouraged to dig deeper. With no excuse to stop!
Starting the journey by the Irish Sea, at St Bees in Cumbria, and concluding at the North Yorkshire fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay at the North Sea. I will be hiking through northern England’s three most spectacular National Parks – the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
Again, your generosity will make a huge impact on the grit needed for me to complete this with my boyfriend. He will certainly be setting the pace and we are aiming to do the challenge in 10 days, 3-4 days shy of the usual 13-14 day walks, so wish me luck!
Any donation large or small will be SO gratefully received.
Thank you so much!!
