What would make a relatively sane person climb onto the wing of a flying plane at several thousand feet in the air? For me, it’s the profound desire to raise funds for an incredible charity that holds a special place in my heart: Pets As Therapy.

On 1 July 2026, I will be embracing the exhilarating challenge of a Wing Walk to raise £750 for this remarkable cause.

Pets As Therapy is more than just a charity; it is a beacon of hope and comfort for many. I am deeply proud to volunteer regularly alongside my wonderful dog, Pippin. Together, we visit individuals who truly benefit from the healing power of canine companionship and heartfelt conversation. Witnessing the joy and relief that a simple visit from a friendly dog can bring is nothing short of inspiring. Pippin’s calm and affectionate nature lights up faces as soon as she enters the room. Whether through gentle cuddles, wagging tails, or quiet presence, she offers solace to those feeling lonely, anxious, or facing difficult days.

Since 1983, Pets As Therapy has been dedicated to spreading comfort through specially assessed dogs and cats visiting hospitals, care homes, schools, prisons, and day care centres across the UK. These visits provide invaluable companionship and non-judgmental support that brighten lives in profound ways.

While Pippin will keep all four paws firmly on the ground during this time, I will be stepping far outside my comfort zone by strapping myself to the wing of a plane! This daring act is my way of showing commitment to supporting this wonderful cause.
