Story

Why we are fundraising

2023 was a devastating year for us and we lost two amazing family members to cancer within two weeks of each other. My husband of 33years Tim Chant passed away on 26th June 2023 after a short battle with cancer that had been diagnosed only 6 months earlier 3 days before Christmas 2022 and my Dad Mike Steer passed away after a 7 year battle with cancer on 12th July 2023. In between these two losses on 5th July 2023 we welcomed Tims second Grandson and Mikes third Great Grandson into the world. We want to raise funds that will help other people who find themselves in a similar situation to us as a way of thanking those who helped us and in the memory of Tim and Mike.

The Charity

Tim, Mike and our families were supported by Rowcroft Hospice and the Rowcroft Community Team for the last few weeks of their lives and the work Rowcroft and the community team provide is exceptional and priceless. Rowcroft is a charity and is funded by donation and fundraising. The services they provide helps support people diagnosed with cancer and their families at the most difficult time in their lives.

Our target

We have felt very appreciative for the support we received and wanted to show our gratitude and say thank you to Rowcroft and have decided as a family, with our friends to embark on 12 months of challenges during 2024 to fund raise a target of £50,000 for Rowcroft to help them in continuing to support people diagnosed with cancer and their families.

We will be funding all events ourselves to ensure every penny donated goes directly to Rowcroft.
