Just4Children are raising money to help Brody have access to a WAV car, to provide specialist equipment and therapy and to make adaptions to his home so Brody can live safely and comfortably.

Brody and his twin brother Myles, have just turned 4 years old. Since their arrival, parents Tom & Charl, my truly amazing and super resilient brother and sister-in-law, have been on such a roller coaster journey of emotions, their life is non-stop and their 2nd home is literally the hospital. I live so far away in Somerset and have felt so helpless here, that is until in January this year when I was sat at my desk at work and an email popped up advertising a 10K run at Westonbirt Arboretum this May. “Ooooh” I thought, “Maybe, just maybe, I could sign up in the hopes of raising money for Brody’s care.” Government & Charity grants will only cover so much of equipment and care, the rest has to come from fundraising.

For those of you who know me, this is a MASSIVE challenge for me!! I walked cross country at school, I only ever ran to the toilet or when I was late picking Finlay up from primary school!! In mid January I began my running regime, 3 runs a week, using the NHS couch to 5K app. 10 weeks later I finally have the confidence to add myself as a ‘fundraiser’ on Brody’s Just Giving page - eeek! I wish I could say I’m enjoying running, but my struggles are absolutely nothing to what our Brodes has been through. He’s such a courageous and brave boy and I’m super proud he’s my nephew. When I’m running I push away negative “you’re not going to make it, you’re a slow slug” thoughts and picture Brody’s beautiful smile, his infectious laugh and beaming face…
