Story

I am taking part in the Thames Hospice Open Water Swim Challenge. Whilst this event will challenge me, I know what a difference the money will make to those patients and families who are facing the most difficult of challenges.

💚 £12 could pay for a patient’s medication for a day

💚 £25 could pay for an assisted bath helping a patient to relax

💚 £57 could pay for a bereavement call to support a family member

Thames Hospice are here to ensure that patients and their families are cared for with the utmost compassion, dignity and respect. Funds raised from my swim will ensure that Thames Hospice can continue to provide care to those in the local community.

Last year I moved in and cared for Hazel in her last days and weeks. A tough, special role that changed and healed both me and my daughter who was also there in those last few days.

Hazel unfortunately had lost both her beloved her sons Steve ( my first husband) in 2003, and Andy, suddenly in February last year. They were very much in my thoughts, and in my conversations with Hazel.

Thames Hospice supported Hazel and her partner throughout the illness. They were at the end of the phone 24/7 for advice and support for me in order for me to care for Hazel. Those last days and weeks would have been so much harder without their support, both in person, and on the phone.

I and they will be immensely grateful for any donation you can give, no matter how small. Thank you xx
