The Great North Air Ambulance Service keeps families together by saving lives. We provide critical care 365 days a year to the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Story

Being an avid Motorcyclist all of his life, and a keen Mountain biker in his later years, the Great North Air Ambulance was a charity which was close to Richy's heart. Although he never needed their service personally, he witnessed their invaluable work vicariously through friends.

Following a short illness, Richy tragically passed away recently. His positive attitude and dignity throughout were commendable.

Considering Richy's main interests in life, over many years as a family we have felt more secure, and even comforted knowing this amazing service is in place. And so now, in memory of Richy and his love of the adventures he enjoyed, particularly in North Yorkshire, North Cumbria and the North East, and for all the people who continue to pursue such adventures, we would ask that family and friends donate to this charity in place of Funeral Flowers, or simply just in memory of a much loved Husband, Dad and friend.

About the charity -

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
