Story
In memory of Dot
Following Mums passing we are raising money in her memory for the specialist Motor Neurone Disease Team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals who cared for her.
When Mum was diagnosed with MND last year it came as a great shock to us all. The care she had from all services including her GP, District Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians and Speech and Language Therapists and in particular the MND team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals has been second to none. Mums MND nurse, Hannah Monk, and her team supported Mum with not just access to services, but care and compassion throughout. We would like to support this service by raising funds in Mums memory which will directly support Hannah and her teams work.
The MND Team are a small specialist service providing care, support, and guidance to people in Lancashire and South Cumbria. They work tirelessly to provide patient centred, dignified, and compassionate care in very emotional and uncertain times for those living with MND and their carers. The money raised will help to fund specialist equipment, which helps maintain independence and supports the purchase of monitoring equipment which allows people to be assessed in their own homes, avoiding hospital admissions. It also helps support specialist education and training events.
