Deborah's fundraiser for Juvenile Arthritis Research

Deborah Gilbert is raising money for Juvenile Arthritis Research

Run Norwich 2025 · 7 September 2025 ·

As a patient- and parent-led charity, our vision is a world where no child has to suffer from arthritis. Our aims include research to find a cure for JIA, raising awareness that children and young people get arthritis and providing support to children and their families affected by JIA.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you know Hannah was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis in the autumn of 2023. This diagnosis has turned Hannah's life and our family life upside down and we have all been on a rollercoaster ever since. Hannah went from a well, active teenager to initially struggling to even get out of bed. And so far her life has never returned to what it looked like before her symptoms began. She has been incredible and through her sheer determination and refusal to let this condition dictate her life, she has gone on to achieve incredible things over the last 2 years, despite all that she has had to face. We are so proud of the way she has coped with everything that her body has thrown at her.

It has not been easy for Hannah or us as a family, but I am so grateful for all the support we have been given through the Juvenile Arthritis Research charity. They have given us incredible help and advice and have allowed us to discover a community which has meant that we are not alone in this journey. They are also doing incredible work in the science and medical world to ensure that all young people with JIA are given the best possible care and a voice, and they are working towards a future where hopefully one day children won't have to live with the life altering effects of arthritis.

So I am running the Norwich 10k race in order to help raise money for this incredible charity as a thank you to them for all the support they have given us over the last 2 years. If you feel able to, please donate to this incredible cause so that they can continue the amazing and much needed work they are doing. Thank you so much for your donation and for taking the time to read this.
