Story
This November, I’ll be taking on a 5K challenge for Gaitway, a charity that means so much to our family.
My daughter Lana is 13 years old and has cerebral palsy with quadriplegic spasticity. She is a full-time wheelchair user and relies on specialist therapy to help maintain her mobility, strength and independence.
Lana won't just be cheering from the sidelines, she'll be taking part too! One of the fitter members of our team, Kim Simpson, has kindly agreed to push her around the course so that we can complete the challenge together.
Gaitway provides therapy and support that Lana simply cannot access elsewhere. Through neurophysiotherapy, conductive education and other specialist interventions, they help children and young people develop skills, maximise their potential and, in Lana's case, help reduce the need for future invasive surgeries.
This year was a huge milestone for Gaitway. Thanks to fundraising and community support, they secured permanent premises, allowing them to support even more children and families. They now offer Saturday sessions as well as therapy, music, boccia, outings and opportunities for children and young people to socialise and build confidence. It's much more than a therapy provider; it's a community.
Every pound raised will help Gaitway continue making a real difference to children like Lana and many others.
If you're able to sponsor me, no matter how small the donation, I would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you for your support.
