Story
Taking on a half marathon is a huge challenge, but we're proud to be doing it for a cause that means so much to us. Our team of 10 runners includes Gill, mum to 13-year-old Stanley, whose story perfectly demonstrates the life-changing impact of the North West Children's Support Group.
Stanley is a wonderful young man with a vibrant personality and endless energy. Thanks to the North West Children's Support Group, he has enjoyed two incredible holidays alongside other children with disabilities and additional needs. These experiences have given Stanley the opportunity to make memories, gain confidence and enjoy adventures that might not otherwise have been possible.
The impact doesn't stop there. While Stanley is away enjoying his holiday, his parents, Gill and Nick, have the rare opportunity to spend quality time with their younger son, Freddie. For families caring for a child with significant SEND needs, a traditional family holiday can be incredibly challenging. The support provided by this charity gives the whole family valuable respite, allowing them to relax and create special memories together without worry or guilt.
The North West Children's Support Group is a Lancashire-based voluntary organisation that provides holidays and social events for children with disabilities and additional needs across the region. Their work helps children build friendships, share experiences and enjoy opportunities that many of us take for granted, while also providing much-needed respite for parents and carers.
As with all charities, they rely heavily on donations, fundraising and grants to continue their incredible work. They are also supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously give up their own holiday time to care for the children and make these unforgettable experiences possible.
The holidays are full of fun, laughter and adventure, but their impact goes far beyond that. They provide life-enhancing experiences for the children who attend and invaluable support for their families.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the North West Children's Support Group continue making a real difference to families like the Tompsons. Thank you for supporting us and this amazing charity.
