Despite it never being on my top 10 bucket list things to do - I find myself signed up for a 10,000ft tandem skydive in support of the amazing charity I am proud to be CEO of - North London Hospice - celebrating our 40th anniversary year delivering outstanding care and support to our community.

I am incredibly proud to lead a charity that has been at the heart of our community for all these years. When the hospice was first founded, it was to fill a gap in end-of-life services. All these years later, we are still here, and unfortunately still facing challenges with end-of-life care.

That is why the support from people like you, my family and friends, is so important. Our vision is to provide the best of life, at the end of life, for everyone. We can only do this with your support.

I was struck recently by a conversation with one of the families we were supporting. They did not know that we are a charity. Whilst some funding comes from the NHS, we need to raise more than £10 million each year just to keep our doors open and our services delivered 24/7 - 365 days a year.

Our care is free of charge, but it does not come for free. It now costs nearly £16 million a year to fund our services. Most of our funding comes from donations, this is something that we never take for granted.

I am proud of the work we do at North London Hospice. Sometimes people ask me if it’s a sad place to be. Whilst there are obviously extremely sad parts of our work, we also have the chance to make a difference to someone’s end of life, and that for me, is an absolute privilege.

Thank you for your donation and support - it means alot to me - but more important it supports the wonderful staff and volunteers who deliver the most outstanding care and support to those that we support support and need us.
