Take On The Tower Superhero Abseil - Saturday 10th October

Declan McComiskey is raising money for Friends of the Cancer Centre
Brave superheroes from across the land will be Taking on the Tower on Saturday 10th October 2026 and abseiling 190ft down Belfast City Hospital's iconic yellow tower block to raise funds for local families impacted by cancer.

Story

We’re fundraising for Friends of the Cancer Centre for two very special reasons that are incredibly close to our hearts.

Our friend Sheridan Brady has recently overcome her battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, so many incredible people went above and beyond to support Sheridan, and we want to show our appreciation by giving something back to an organisation that supports cancer patients and their families every day.

We are also fundraising in loving memory of our Granny Theresa, who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 1984. Although she has been gone for many years, her memory remains very much a part of our family.

Friends of the Cancer Centre supports people affected by cancer, focusing on four key areas: patient care, patient comfort, research and cancer awareness. The charity helps provide vital support to patients and their families alongside the services provided by the Health Service.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, can make a real difference. For example:

£10 could provide tea and coffee for 43 people attending hospital for treatment.

£25 could help pay for one hour of support from a Friends of the Cancer Centre specialist nurse.

£250 could help support a patient financially through the charity’s grant programme.

If you’re able to donate, we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will help support people and families facing cancer.

Thank you so much to everyone who supports us, donates, shares our fundraiser or simply takes the time to read our story.

Together, we can help make a difference.
