Della's Garden Walk Challenge for Dementia Action Week · 20 May 2026

Minehead Dementia Action is a small, volunteer-led charity supporting people living with dementia, memory loss, their families and carers across West Somerset. We believe that a diagnosis should never mean losing friendships, confidence or opportunities to take part in community life. Through regular social groups, activities, information, advice and community projects, we help people stay connected, supported and valued. Our work also extends beyond direct support. We raise awareness of dementia, encourage understanding, and work with local businesses, organisations and community groups to help create a more dementia-friendly West Somerset where everyone feels welcome and included. Every donation helps us continue providing welcoming activities, meaningful social opportunities and practical support for local people affected by dementia. As an independent local charity, funds raised stay within our community, helping us reach more people, reduce isolation and improve quality of life for those who need us most. Together, we are building a kinder, more understanding community where people living with dementia can continue to live well.

Story

On Wednesday 20th May from 2pm, I will be walking 3 circuits of Blenheim Gardens to raise money for Minehead Dementia Action as part of Dementia Action Week.

As I am recovering from a recent hip operation, this will be a personal challenge for me. I volunteer with Minehead Dementia Action, but I am doing this fundraiser independently to support the charity and help local people living with dementia and their carers.
