Story
I am part of a team of 50 people running for Routes Out Of Homelessness at the Hackney Half 2026 on 17 May 2026 (the day before I turn 27!). This will be my second half marathon ever after running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2024, which at the time was my first time training and running more than 10km in my life.
I am raising funds to support Hackney Night Shelter, which operates in the area that the race is taking place and provides emergency accommodation, hot meals, and support for over 200 people a year, 365 nights of the year.
This fundraiser is close to my heart as I have been living in East London (Bethnal Green) since August 2024, so it is special to be able to race for this amazing organisation and make an impact in my own local neighbourhood.
Even over the course of only a year and a half, I have witnessed East London becoming increasingly gentrified and an increasing number of rough sleepers in our area with need for accommodation and hot meals. With your support, the shelter can stay open 365 night a year and continue creating routes out of homelessness.
Thank you!
