Story
Thanks for taking the time to read my fundraising page.
I am Denise and those of you who know me well will know that I love to play the clarinet and cello and I am a member of Spires Orchestra, Oriflamme and Hoecco. I also enjoy running when I’m not playing in the orchestras.
Martin was a special friend and colleague to us all in the local orchestras and ensembles. He was kind, gentle and caring and he had supported NOTDEC for many years – sponsoring a NOTDEC child. So, in memory of Martin, I am running the Bournemouth half-marathon to raise funds in his name and remember a wonderful man and fantastically talented French horn player. He tragically died too young and is hugely missed by all of us who had the pleasure of playing with him in many orchestras in the Warwickshire area.
NOTDEC UK is a charity which supports motherless or abandoned children in the west of Uganda. I am running this half marathon to help raise as much money as I can for NOTDEC.
NOTDEC UK currently supports 165 children. They are cared for at NOTDEC Uganda’s purpose-built site until they are 5-6 years old when they are then returned, still sponsored for school fees, to the care of a family member. This is often a father, grandparents, aunts or older siblings.
The families in Western Uganda are very poor. The household is often an extended family of adults and several children. Homes have very few facilities and there are many needs.
My aim is to raise sufficient funds to enable school fees to be met and to purchase much- needed items including milk formula and other essential items.
Please be generous to this worthwhile cause in memory of a wonderful colleague and friend.
Any support you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
