Story
Earlier this year my wife Bex was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This was through regular screening and no symptoms (do not miss those appointments!). This is less than 18 months since my Mum was suddenly taken by Oesophageal cancer.
After a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery Bex is on the mend. The NHS have been brilliant in responding to the treating the cancer; however, they are not resourced to provide the aftercare treatment that cancer survivors need. Bex will need physiotherapy to help recover and regain the strength she has lost. The psychological impact of finding out that you, or your partner, has cancer should not be underestimated, and we have engaged the help of FORCE to help us on both the physical and mental journey.
FORCE provides a wide range of free services including specialist information and advice, counselling, complementary therapies, advice on keeping active, support with hair loss, benefits advice, and programmes to help people move on after treatment or cope with cancers that can’t be cured. Could you help us meet the need for the sort of care only FORCE can offer here in Devon?
It costs an average of £850 to support each person on their cancer journey. To care for the anticipated 150 more people in 2026, we need to raise an extra £127,500.
For this reason I will be riding 100 miles in The Nello 2026 and would be grateful if you could donate.
Thank you for your support of this unique event.
