Story

Dennison JCB: Proudly Supporting Mencap and People with Learning Disabilities

At Dennison JCB, we believe in making a difference in the communities we serve. This year, we’re proud to support Mencap in their vital work to make Northern Ireland the best place for people with learning disabilities to live.

In Northern Ireland alone, there are approximately 42,000 people with a learning disability—each facing unique challenges in accessing education, employment, healthcare, and even basic social inclusion. Almost 1 in 3 young people with a learning disability spend less than one hour outside their home on a typical Saturday, highlighting just how isolated many can feel. For families, early years can often be a time of struggle, with limited support and a sense of isolation.

At Dennison JCB, we’re committed to helping change this.

As part of our support this year, we’ve taken a special step to raise awareness. One of our rental trucks is now proudly on the road, adorned with handprints from children and adults who are supported by Mencap, along with handprints from the dedicated Mencap team. Each handprint represents a person, a story, and the collective effort to create a more inclusive, supportive society.

We hope that this simple but powerful gesture helps remind people that, together, we can break down the barriers faced by those with learning disabilities. At Dennison JCB, we are honoured to be part of Mencap’s mission to ensure that everyone—regardless of their abilities—has the opportunity to live a full, independent, and rewarding life.
