Cuan Mhuire Newry was founded by Sr. Consilio on June 29th 1984. It was replaced by a purpose built centre on the Old Dublin Road in 2012. Since its foundation many thousands of persons from across the NI have availed of its rehabilitation services.

Story

In June 2021 I was lucky enough to go to Cuan Mhuire residential rehab for 12 weeks.

For years I self medicated through alcohol and before I went into Cuan Mhuire my mental and physical health couldn't of been much worse. I was in and out of hospital ,and the doctors said if I kept this lifestyle up, I would be dead within a couple years if not months.

Cuan Mhuire give me the knowledge ,the tools, the wisdom, the gratitude ,along with self worth and self love.

Addiction doesn't discriminate. It doesn't see religion, race ,age or social status.

Since i left Cuan Mhuire ,I have became a completely better version of myself and I try to be the best version of myself everyday. I work with young people, and try and help them to be the best version of themselves and to guide them, not to go down the road I went down, to talk about their feelings etc, too not bottle up and self medicate the way I did.

I am constantly educating myself, gaining new skills and qualifications. I'm a better partner to my fiancee (my better half) and a better dad to my son (my wee man) .I wake up thankful every morning and live my life to the fullest every day.

I will be forever thankful and grateful to Cuan Mhuire ,not only did it change my life but saved it.
