Story

DEREK’S GOING FOR IT! PLEASE SPONSOR HIM!

Some people do amazing things.

Some do silly things.

Others do scary things out of their comfort zone

All to help others

I am doing the scary one HELP!

I am taking part in a Brain Tumour Research Jump for Hope. I am not young anymore and will be just short of 78 years of age by a few days when I do this tandem sky dive from a minimum of 10, 000 feet, when with Amanda my late daughter in mind looking out for me up there in the blue yonder, the instructor and I will open the parachute as we are travelling at 120mph by gravity at 5000 feet and land safely. HELP!

My beautiful daughter Amanda whom we all miss so much is featured in my appeal photos section and me Derek her dad (the guy making this tandem sky dive).

I sadly lost my eldest daughter to Brain Tumours which she suffered over almost 3 years. Amanda passed away aged 41 on 17th May 2014. She left 2 young children and husband and heartbroken parents and her devoted sister. Her loss was devastating and the suffering she endured was awful for her and for us to witness. I have supported Brain Tumour Research and campaigned for more money for research over the years and indeed most Lions clubs in Uk are supportive to the same cause and charity. to which I am very thankful.

Brain Tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and just 12% survive beyond five years. These terrible statistics, along with devastating stories of loved ones affected by brain tumours, mean that it is important that we work together to #FundTheFight and help raise vital funds for The Brain Tumour Research Charity.

It will be worth it if you all to donate. I hope this story will encourage as many people to sponsor my challenge and make lots and lots of money to help others receive the best treatment available for their brain tumours, research is the way forward to advances in treatments.

By taking on this Jump for Hope, I will be doing exactly that. Please be generous and sponsor me Thank you.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
