Some have experience riding, but 50% of the group are new-comers to off road cycling. The rocks, the heat of the desert & travelling through the wild make this a tough endeavour.

Save The Rhino Trust (SRT) protect and preserve the only truly wild population of black rhinos in Africa. The land (25,000 square kilometres) is communally owned by tribespeople, outside a national park or protected area. The harshness of the desert renders survival precarious by any animal, let alone with the threat of poaching as these rhinos face. SRT works very closely with the communities living in the area, and is run by Simson Uri Khob, who won the Tusk Prince William Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
