In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise money for FLAG DV – the Free Legal Advice Group for Domestic Violence, a charity that does genuinely life-changing work for people experiencing domestic abuse. I’m incredibly proud to be a Trustee of FLAG DV and to support a cause that means a great deal to me, both personally and professionally.

FLAG DV supports victims of domestic abuse during some of the most stressful and overwhelming moments of their lives. Through its exceptional court support scheme, individuals are guided and supported through the family courts - when they are fighting to keep custody of their children, determining who they will live with, contacting them in care, or obtaining injunctions to keep them safe. This free advice is not time-limited, meaning clients are supported throughout their case, no matter how long it takes.

FLAG DV also runs an outreach service where volunteer family solicitors provide free legal advice to people who would otherwise struggle to access help at all.

As a family solicitor, I see first-hand the devastating impact domestic abuse has on individuals and families. I also see how powerful the right support, at the right time, can be. Last year alone, almost 1,000 victims of abuse reached out to FLAG DV for help, and demand continues to grow.

For many years, I stood on the sidelines of the London Marathon cheering runners on, never imagining that I would take it on myself. Training for this race will be one of the biggest physical and mental challenges I have ever faced – involving countless hours of running in the wind and rain, through dark mornings, cold evenings, and with tired and aching legs.

My fundraising target is £2,500, set by the charity. Every donation, no matter the size, helps FLAG DV continue its vital work supporting vulnerable men and women experiencing abuse.
