Story
As a Specialist Nurse for the Paget's Association, a national charity, I'm taking to the skies to raise funds with a winch‑launched glider flight and I hope I'm brave enough to take the controls!
Under the guidance of an instructor, Pat, I’ll be launched steeply into the sky before taking on the extra challenge of flying the glider myself. It’s something I originally said I’d never do, but here I am, embracing it anyway. Brian will be flying separately too, with his own opportunity to take the controls. We’ll be taking off from the Lincolnshire Gliding Club at the former RAF Strubby airfield. If we’re lucky enough to catch rising air, we could stay aloft for up to half an hour before Pat brings us safely back to earth.
Why I’m doing this?
After almost 14 years with the Paget’s Association, I know just how urgently we need support simply to survive the next couple of years and to keep driving forward our PagetAlert campaign.
Every day, I speak to people living with Paget’s disease who are struggling for answers, support and reassurance. For many, we are the first place they feel heard. We provide trusted information, practical guidance and emotional support - and we receive no government funding to do it.
Our income has fallen sharply, and without increased donations, the future of the charity is at real risk. If we were no longer here, people affected by Paget’s disease would lose a vital lifeline.
How you can help
Everything we provide exists only because of the generosity of people who believe in our work. If you’re able to support this challenge, every donation will help us continue being here for those who need us.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, and GiftAid makes your donation go even further.
Thank you so much for your support!
