Diane's Drive for Dough: Glasgow Kiltwalk 2026

Diane Spiers is raising money for Glasgow Caledonian University Foundation

Glasgow Kiltwalk 2026 · 25 April 2026 to 26 April 2026 ·

GCU’s 150th Campaign will fund 150 scholarships with financial aid and career support, helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds thrive through bursaries, mentoring, internships, and life-changing opportunities.

Story

I feel very strongly that, but for GCU’s intervention, Dough School would be dead, even though not forgotten. The 150th Anniversary goes back to OUR roots and thanks to GCU we, as alumni, have been very much brought back to life. This gives us the chance to repay the university for bringing us back to life. It presents us with the responsibility to keep ‘us’ going and the opportunity to participate in the challenge of fundraising for the 150th Anniversary.

Over recent years, hearing the testimonies of a number of students concerning their educational journey at GCU has moved me deeply. The care and help they have received/are receiving has been and is life changing. To be part of such a university is an honour.

To be enabled to contribute to the cause is both a privilege and a collective responsibility. It is my hope that we, as grateful alumni, will swell the Dough School Fund to reach a creditable sum which will be life changing for future students. To this end I am joining the Kilt Walk and would very much appreciate your support by sponsoring me. I shall walk for as far as my old legs will carry me - spurred on in the hope (and dare I say optimistic expectation) that you will help me raise a good total for OUR fund.
