Diya's fundraiser for Project Care Volunteering

Diya Lodhia is raising money for Project Care Volunteering
We organise group volunteering trips for university students to partner schools for disadvantaged young people in India and Uganda. We and the volunteers raise funds throughout the year which are then invested into these partner schools.

Story

This June, I will be volunteering for two weeks with Project Care Volunteering at the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association School. This school is the only school in this area, and it supports children who travel for days across mountainous terrain to access their only opportunity for education and safe accommodation. By contributing creative lessons, new subjects like geography and politics, and enriching extracurricular activities, volunteers help broaden students’ horizons, build confidence, and expand opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.

I want to go on this trip because I am passionate about education and believe every child deserves access to quality learning opportunities, no matter how remote their community may be. Experiencing life and teaching in a completely different cultural and geographical setting will challenge me, strengthen my communication and leadership skills, and help me grow both personally and professionally. I will learn resilience, adaptability, and a deeper appreciation for global inequalities in education.

By supporting my fundraising, you will not only be helping me take part in this life-changing experience but also directly contributing to resources, opportunities, and brighter futures for children who travel days across the mountains just to attend school.

Project Care Volunteering organises group volunteering trips for university students to schools and colleges for disadvantaged young people in India and Uganda.

The charity was founded in 2022 (and previously associated with another charity from 2012-2022) and has since coordinated 20+ group volunteering trips, raising over £115,000 towards transformational education projects, including sanitation projects and the building of new school infrastructure (such as classrooms, playgrounds, toilets and kitchens).
