20 years ago our mother and our sister, Sarah, died having suffered with ovarian cancer. They died within six weeks of each other in August and September of 2005.

To quote my sister Joanna, who founded Target Ovarian Cancer, "I couldn't save my mother or my sister but it made me determined to do something to prevent other people having to go through what my family has experienced."

TOC is doing amazing work in supporting women who have been diagnosed with this cancer, raising awareness of the symptoms of the disease in the wider public, educating medical professionals to better recognise and help get treatment for it and in immensely valuable research into treatments.

I have now entered my 60th year on this planet and having run for the charity before wanted to do something a little more challenging to raise funds for it. So...over the next 12 months I am going to run 1000 miles. This will involve organised events and personal running to reach the target, including:

The Ovar Dressed Walk/Run on October 19th 2025 - COMPLETED

The Bath Half Marathon on March 15th 2026. - COMPLETED

The TCS London Marathon on April 26th 2026. - COMPLETED

The Bristol Half Marathon on May 10th 2026 - COMPLETED

The River Run (Half marathon ) Sept 6 2026

Target Ovarian Cancer Ovar Dressed Walk Sept 27 2026 - will be walking

The challenge will run from October 3rd 2025 to October 3rd 2026, which will be my 60th birthday and if I am able I will run the last 60km of the target in one run/walk/stumble/crawl.
