I'm taking on the Royal Parks Half for Concern.

Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation that strives for a world free from poverty, fear and oppression.

Extreme geographies. Extreme climate challenges. Extreme crises. Nothing will stop Concern fighting extreme poverty. Their teams on the ground are working together with people living in the most difficult situations, to bring about lasting change to lives, livelihoods and communities.

They provide life-saving and life-changing support to communities around the world who are most vulnerable to crises. From rapid emergency response to innovative programming in health and nutrition, livelihoods and education, Concern go to the hardest to reach places to make sure that no-one is left behind.

Recently, Venezuela has been hit by two powerful earthquakes. Millions of people are in need of assistance and 1,900 have been confirmed dead.

On Wednesday 24 June, Venezuela was struck by two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitudes, just 39 seconds apart – these are some of the strongest the country has seen in a century.

The humanitarian needs are immense.

Tens of thousands of people are missing and more than  10,500 people are injured and need urgent medical care, with the country’s hospitals under extreme pressure.

Before the earthquakes, Venezuela was already facing a severe economic crisis and the needs now are overwhelming.

Many survivors are sleeping in makeshift tents on the street and urgently need shelter, food and water. With road, power lines and critical infrastructure destroyed, families are cut off from essential services and supplies.

Concern Worldwide is responding through our partner on the ground, Acted, to provide shelter, essential household items, clean water and sanitation, and support to protect the safety and dignity of survivors.
