One night sleeping rough to support The Whitechapel Centre and help end homelessness for people in our city.

Story

Hello.

I'm sorry to have to share this and ask for your support again, but the homelessness in town is getting worse by the day. It was visibly worse over the course of the Tory government but we can’t assume this lot who’ve got in will make it any better.

As most of you know, the Whitechapel Centre is critical in the local area; not just helping people to get off the streets for a night or two, but in providing education, support and a way forward for our most vulnerable in society.

I detest that I know the names of the lads who sleep rough on my street - they shouldn't be on our pavements for so long that people recognise and know them. They deserve safety, shelter and a better standard of living.

So, yeah. In a few months, we'll be doing the annual sleepout to raise money for those who need it the most. We sleep rough. It's not nice, but we'll never experience their day-to-day experiences, pain and desperation. Hopefully between us we can support them by raising a few bob for the Whitechapel Centre, who continue to support, care for and transform lives of those who have nowhere else to turn.

Nobody wins, unless everybody wins.

NOTE: I’ll be doing this one week after the official event as I’m not in town on the 27th Sept.
