DOA Underwriting’s fundraiser for Mesothelioma UK

DOA Underwriting is raising money for Mesothelioma UK
We are the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma. A preventable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Your generous donations allow us to support people with mesothelioma to live better, longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations.

Story

For the last 18 years, we have provided a specialist insurance product that enables asbestos Surveyors, Analysts, Laboratories, Trainers, Consultants and Contractors to safely identify, manage and remove asbestos. Our product is making it a safer world for workers, self-employed contractors and residents to eventually live in an asbestos free environment… but there is a lot more work to be done. That’s why we’re taking a meaningful step further by spotlighting the organisations giving back to those affected by asbestos-related diseases and working to change how asbestos is identified, recorded, and managed across the UK.

Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, a material still found in up to 1.5 million UK buildings, despite being banned over two decades ago. Each year, around 2,700 people are diagnosed, with workplace exposure being the leading cause. More than 125,000 people in the UK have died as a result of asbestos-related disease. Despite the scale of the problem, asbestos still receives minimal attention from the Government. The UK’s 10-Year Infrastructure Plan makes no mention of the urgent need to tackle the presence of asbestos across the country, underscoring just how far we still have to go to bring this issue to the forefront in Westminster.

Yet, Mesothelioma is entirely preventable.

This campaign aims to support both Mesothelioma UK and the Asbestos Information CIC, two organisations working to raise awareness, support patients, and push for national prevention efforts.
