Story
Hi there, we would like your help in raising money to donate to Inflammatory Neuropathies UK in memory of our beloved dad.. 8 years ago he was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) which is an extremely rare auto immune disease which occurred suddenly without warning. He was hospitalised for over a year and sadly lost the use of his legs and severely lost strength and tone in his hands. with medical treatment, intense physio and sheer mental determination he began to gain some strength back and was able to lift cutlery to feed himself and begin to pull back some independence…
Fast forward to January this year he became unwell and heartbreakingly he diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia which unfortunately triggered the CIDP again, setting him back to the start with paralysis. Devastatingly he lost his life on 30th April.
Prior to his illness our Dad climbed Snowdon and Ben Nevis (two out of the “three peaks”) and was looking forward to climbing Scafell Pike… sadly he became ill before being able to do this..
So we would like to take on this hike with his ashes and get him to the top.
CIDP can happen to anyone at any time in their lives, however as it’s so rare there is a lack of education and treatment surrounding this… By raising money for this charity it will provide research, education, treatment and awareness. We would appreciate any donation big or small… let’s do it for Dave.
