Story
On my recent trip to Nepal I got off the beaten track a bit and ended up in the village of Bimire, where a small Scottish charity called The Bimiri Foundation has been doing amazing work building drinking water pipelines.
They've already finished one project, connecting taps to 112 homes which has had an amazing impact on the village.
Now they're working on fundraising their next project in a nearby village and one of the ways they fundraise is to get tourists to take part in a "Doku Challenge" - carrying a heavy basket load of water from a tap in the jungle to the village, which is a daily burden for women and girls as young as 6 in Nepal.
It was rough, but I did it! I'm now hoping to make my struggle worthwhile by getting them a bit of funding. The minimum donation is £2 and that would buy 1m of pipe in Nepal!
