Story

Hello,

My name is Dolyn. I'm a barber and dad of 3 from Port St Mary, and I'm taking part in Thriller in the Villa 2026 to raise funds for Diabetes Isle of Man.

2 years ago my son Jack, then aged 5, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Coeliac disease - meaning he now has to continuously manage his blood glucose levels with insulin injections and sugar, and be very disciplined with what he eats and drinks.

At times it can be a real challenge, but we're all so proud of how strong Jack has been throughout. He's never let it stop him from being a normal kid, playing football with his friends, learning drums, training in taekwondo and being a great student at school.

Jack's fight has inspired me to fight too. I never would have imagined I'd try boxing but I'm glad I did, because after starting casual training last year at Manx ABC, I've found it to be one of the single best things for both my physical and mental health I've ever done.

Thriller in the Villa is an opportunity to try push myself a step further, while raising money for Diabetes Isle of Man who do amazing things for families that have to live with this gruelling disease, so please give generously.

Win or lose, I hope I can make my family and friends proud.

Thank you.
