Story
I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in memory of my mum Jacqui and in support of Heart Research UK. We lost mum suddenly and unexpectedly during a supposedly safe heart operation, a 1 in 2000 chance, so we were told. Mum was an incredible woman, strong and confident, who had survived cancer and a brain inflammation and come back each time with a renewed lust for life. You can read more about her life on this tribute page: https://jacquigreen.muchloved.com/.
I have run a half marathon before, just once, three years ago. Since then, I've had cardiovascular issues of my own and quite a few trips to A&E. I've been keeping up with my 5ks twice a week but not much more. I'd like to do it in under two hours which is a good 30 seconds per mile quicker than last time. So this feels like a big challenge.
