Story
Hi everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to visit my page.
In November my Dad was diagnosed with throat cancer. As you can imagine, it came as a huge shock to all of us. Hearing the “C word” is always scary. Even though 1 in 5 of us will face cancer at some point, you never expect it to be you, a close friend, or your own dad.
Over the past few weeks, as we’ve been trying to understand his diagnosis, I’ve realised just how complex and overwhelming cancer can be. I never truly appreciated the scale of it all until now.
The care and treatment that Dad will receive sounds pretty incredible and scary at the same time, and its the main reason why I've chosen to run for the ICR. I am hoping to spread a little awareness of throat cancer (even if reading this encourages just one person to learn a little more, that’s a win), but also help, just a little, in developing new and cutting-edge treatments that maybe aren't too scary and damaging to the body - especially to such sensitive areas.
Hats off to anyone who has suffered from cancer or supported someone through it, you are truly amazing!
Dad, In April 2026 I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for you, and all the others that have and are suffering with cancer!
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
