IKEA for Sue Ryder · 3 June 2023

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

 Hi all,

Last year’s Snowdon by night was such a great experience some of the members decide to go a step further and organise another trip in aid of Sue Ryder’s Hospice. I’d like to share some information about the upcoming challenge.

As you all know IKEA Peterborough is supporting Sue Ryder’s Hospice, the company is doing it in many ways, and the Three peaks challenge will be one of them this year. There are 16 individuals, mostly CDC co-workers, team leaders, and managers, who all signed up for the Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Sue Ryder’s end-of-life, compassionate care.

They will take on the daunting task to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours!

This is a journey none of them has done before and it won’t be an easy one, but all are determined to make it happen and raise funds that will help fill someone’s last days with love and make sure someone is there when it matters.

The first mountain to climb will be Ben Nevis in Scotland. They might be greeted with unpredictable weather, making it even more challenging than anticipated, but with their spirits high and a target to achieve they will do their best to succeed. Next up will be Scafell Pike, the group will start to feel the exhaustion of the previous climb, but they will push on. The Lake District's beautiful scenery will be a distraction from the gruelling climb. Finally, it will be time for Snowdon in Wales.

Once this is completed and the group will descend from the peak, they will definitely be exhausted but they will all feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in what they achieved. Their efforts will make a difference to those in need.
