It’s that time of year again where I’m overwhelmed to be offered a place to run for such an amazing foundation and charity and also to support Jessica and in memory of the beautiful Nicole 💕

💗Great North Run 2025💗

The Great North Run is the most iconic half marathon in the world and what better way to take part knowing you will be supporting the Batten Disease community and our family through: The Nicole and Jessica Rich Foundation and The Batten Disease Family Association who support families across the UK living with all 13 different variants of Batten Disease.

We are incredibly proud to support the BDFA in the GNR once again and as a batten family ourselves, we know how valuable the support they give to families is as we face the challenges of living with this devastating condition.

We feel even more passionate to raise as much as we can in memory of our darling daughter Nicole and to support her sister Jessica and we are so proud that 80% of the funds raised from all fundraising will go directly to the BDFA to allow them to continue to provide the much needed services to affected families.

The BDFA are currently developing their bereavement services, beginning with monthly group sessions for bereaved parents with a trained practitioner. The BDFA’s peer befriending service is growing along with their family support and advocacy work. Part of a longer term strategy will see the BDFA develop its research and scientific function over the coming years.

The remaining 20% of all fundraising will go to The Nicole and Jessica Rich Foundation to help with the care of our daughter Jessica and allow us to give her access to the specialist activities and equipment which will support her individual needs. It will help you allow us the opportunity to create precious family memories through experiences / holidays, aswell as allowing us to donate to support a service or an activity that supports our family within our local community.
