I'm going to Iceland and while I'm there, I'm eating hákarl - fermented shark that Anthony Bourdain called 'the single worst, most disgusting and terrible tasting thing' he'd ever eaten. It's been compared to 'chewing a urine-infested mattress.'
This Icelandic 'delicacy' is fermented and hung to dry for 4-5 months, developing an ammonia-rich smell that'll clear your sinuses from across the room. Why am I doing this? Because my suffering might as well help a good cause!
