Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

On 28th March I retire from KPMG after 10 years and before that 25 years at BDO. My plan post a full time career in professional services predominantly supporting retailers is to find some NED/Board advisory roles in sport, retail and the retail eco-system.

But before that I have decided to do a walk. I think most of you will know that I had the great privilege of playing hockey for my country and representing Great Britain at 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. This was the Olympiad after our men's team had won gold in Seoul in 1988. I am extraordinarily lucky to call many of that team friends. One of them scored 2 goals in the final to help secure that medal that did so much to inspire so much interest in the sport I loved and that gave me so much. That man, Imran Sherwani, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2021. Additionally, my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with vascular dementia.

Hence choosing, Alzheimer's Research UK which is the UK's leading dementia research charity to support. They exist to find a cure for others that suffer.

Your donation will help their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.

I am hoping you will be willing to support me to do a small bit to help.
